ISO 45001 - EDG GRANT FOR SINGAPORE BUSINESS'

The Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is a grant provided by the Singapore government to support local businesses in their efforts to upgrade and expand their capabilities. One of the eligible areas for EDG support is the adoption of internationally recognized standards, including ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

To apply for the EDG grant, businesses must submit a project proposal to Enterprise Singapore, which will be evaluated based on the project scope, relevance, and potential benefits to the business. Once the proposal is approved, the business can proceed with the project and claim the grant support upon completion.

Adopting ISO 45001 through the EDG grant can provide Singapore businesses with several benefits, including improved occupational health and safety performance, enhanced credibility and reputation, increased employee engagement and retention, and potential cost savings from fewer accidents and incidents.

EDG GRANT PROCESS IN SINGAPORE

ELIGIBILITY ASSESSMENT PROJECT PROPOSAL SUBMISSION PROJECT EVALUATION PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION GRANT CLAIM
  • The first step in the EDG grant process is to check eligibility.
  • Singapore businesses must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria outlined by Enterprise Singapore, including local shareholding, operational status, and financial viability.
  • Specifically, businesses must be registered and operating in Singapore, have at least 30% local shareholding, be financially viable and have a clear business plan, and have the capability to see the project through.

  • Once the business has determined their eligibility, they can prepare and submit a project proposal to Enterprise Singapore outlining the scope, goals, and expected benefits of adopting ISO 45001.
  • The proposal should include a detailed description of the project, the costs involved, and the expected outcomes.
  • The proposal should clearly describe the current state of the business's occupational health and safety practices and the expected benefits from adopting ISO 45001.
  • It should also include details on the project scope, including the specific components of the management system that will be implemented, any training or certification required, and any equipment or software that will be necessary.
  • The proposal should be clear, concise, and demonstrate the business's commitment to the project.
  •
  • Enterprise Singapore will evaluate the project proposal based on factors such as the relevance of the project to the business, the potential benefits, and the feasibility of the project.
  • The evaluation process may take several weeks, and businesses will be notified of the outcome of the evaluation via a Letter of Offer.
  • The Letter of Offer will outline the grant amount and the conditions for receiving the grant, including any reporting requirements or milestones that must be met. Businesses should review the terms of the Letter of Offer carefully before accepting it.
  •

  • Once the business has accepted the Letter of Offer, they can begin implementing the project.
  • This may involve engaging a consultant to provide guidance on implementing ISO 45001, conducting training for employees, and acquiring any necessary equipment or software.
  • The business will be responsible for managing the project, ensuring that it is completed on time and within budget, and meeting the reporting requirements outlined in the Letter of Offer.
  • The consultant will work with the business to develop and implement the ISO 45001 management system, including hazard identification and risk assessment, development of policies and procedures, and employee training.
  •

  • Upon completion of the project, the business can submit a grant claim to Enterprise Singapore, providing proof of expenses and demonstrating that the project was completed according to the terms of the grant. The grant amount will be disbursed upon approval of the claim.
  • The business may be subject to post-project monitoring by Enterprise Singapore to ensure compliance with the terms of the grant. If the business does not meet the requirements of the grant, they may be required to repay some or all of the grant amount.
